Condition of the course in September is like mid-winter in Northern California; greens are slow and long, rough is deep, bumkers are wet and fairways are soggy, thick and spongy. Way too much water on the course. Half of my drives bring up mud on the ball. Still a great layout and a great test of golf, but the conditions are extremely slow and wet for September, 2011.

I play this course three times per week when at Stanford. Best course in area, very well maintained, in open country side with wildlife present including deer, foxes, herons, and occasionally a rattlesnake. Long course set up for NCAA tournaments with heavy rough. However, a fair test of golf with excellent greens.

One of the top courses in No. California, it's always a great test. And although it's a private course, with the Alumni/Facilty program, it is also one of the busiest courses on the SF Peninsula.

Every hole is unique on this course, located on the edge of the Stanford University campus. There are beautiful views of the neighboring hills, as well as San Francisco and Oakland in the far distance. The peacefulness of the course is outstanding--no houses border the fairways, traffic noise is minimal, eucalyptus, pine and oak trees come into play, and there is much wildlife including great blue herons, egrets, eagles, hawks, many smaller birds and deer. A barranca with a scenic stream affects play on 9 of the holes. I play this course as a member two to three times a week, and never tire of the experience. The course is kept in very good playing condition by an excellent greenskeeper and groundskeeper.
